Governor Abolishes Two State Licensing Posts

Denver reports Governor Teller Ammons used a veto to abolish the director of the state operators and chauffeurs licensing division Al G Snedeker and reduce the deputy license post salary. Snedeker had headed the division after being appointed by Charles M Armstrong and earned $2,000 a year before cuts. The appropriations act was adjusted to $5,473,000 with the deputy position set at $2,400 annually, while Morris Leckenby remains deputy and faced a salary change.

Townsend Row May Enter Court Record

A dispute between Dr Francis Townsend and a former national pension official surfaces as a potential court record next week. Townsend swore out a warrant for J W Brinton, former general manager of Prosperity Publishing, for allegedly refusing to pay R100 in prize money from a Townsend Weekly subscription contest. Brinton plans to retire to Chicago, likely Monday, to face Townsend in court. Townsend says the money is safe and was moved for other purposes.

Methodist Church Holds Annual Meeting Friday

The Methodist Church held its annual business meeting after a covered dish supper attended by many. Dr G C Thibedash district superintendent presided as Ninety new members joined last June and all bills were paid with departments raising 12078. Benevolent giving rose to 3500 for charity. Dr B Wood will serve a fourth year. Of 13075, 2300 came from women’s organizations.

Fort Collins Approves Registered Warrants for Oil Mat Payment

City commissioners authorize sale of registered warrants to fund two WPA oil mat paying districts. Warrants will be offered to the public as other departments cannot finance the project. Water department has previously handled related warrants.

Mayor and Aldermen Inspect Cheyenne Milk Supply Control

Mayor and Alderman L H Valdertoof and M Colplils from the Greeley council visited Cheyenne on Saturday to review Shageltya milk supply controls. The trip, invited by I M Miller of the T S Pabde Howth Service, follows Cheyenne’s year under a two model graded milk ordinance as Greeley considers adopting a similar milk code.

Big Thompson Highway Celebration Delayed

Carl W. Kibbey of Loveland said the three day August opening celebration for Mig Thompson highway will be postponed until next spring due to the late opening date making this year impractical.

Greeley Guards Head to Camp in Army Trucks

Two companies of the 157th Infantry and staff depart Greeley for Camp George West Golden for a 15 day training session. About 1800 Colorado National Guardsmen participate with Company M led by Captain George Irwin joining regimental units during the move.

Foursome for Sunday at Greater Country Club

A mixed Scotch foursome for members of the Greater Country Club will be held on the golf course Sunday at 3 o clock with a buffet supper in the club house from 6 40 to 8 30. Violin Teacher Quakenbush Dies in Greeley

Quakenbush a noted violinist and member of the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra died Saturday morning after several months illness. Survived by wife Mrs Mdnth, daughter Mrs Macy Burrow, three sons Waughe Hubert and Clifford all of Greeley, one grandson and brother Vaughn Quakenbush of Yuma Arizona. Funeral Wednesday at 10 from Macy's drawing room with interment at Linn Grove.
