The Farmers' Department reports on market conditions and shipping point details with truck crop pest work reorganized under the Department of Agriculture. Dr J A Back appointed Entomologist in Charge of Stored-Product Insect Investigations to extend control measures for stored foods and truck crop pests nationwide.
President Charles A. Lory of the Colorado State Agricultural College delivered the commencement address to the public school graduating class in Johnstown. He spoke on responsibilities in the world war era. Diplomas were presented to Janet Woodwart, Mary Pancake, Ma Bel Brown, Esther Glewine, Gladys Nock and Wallace Gagan. The Johnstown school closed two weeks early in spring due to a wild weather episode.
Juhinetown and nearby towns report a price hike at local milk condensaries. The plant at Jolnstown and other units lift prices per hundred pounds by 4 percent, marking the highest price in memory. Management pressures farmers to protect their holdings and suggests further increases may come next year.
Grover farmers, busy with prep work, expect a large number of silos to be erected this summer in the Grover district. A silo meeting at the M W A hall featured Professor J i W Clark from Colorado agricultural college, County Agricultural Agent M L Knapp, and M Glackwell, with talks by prudent and charitable speakers.
A district court hearing before Judge Nell Graham tackles Edith Glague and James Clague over support for six children. Clague, a Greeley farmer, declares $41,000 net worth and $5,000 yearly income while the plaintiff seeks a larger sum. both sides present figures, with $45 monthly proposed by the defense and $10 contested as feasible. Mrs Clague currently receives $15 monthly via court order.
