A severe cyclone near Fort Defiance and Ganado irrigation district in Gallup New Mexico drowned three Navajo residents and caused $200000 in damage to crops, stock, and buildings. The Ganado dam washed out with losses of $76000 while the reservoir held. A wind driven flood swept a twenty mile by four mile area with trees stripped and homes flooded. An elder man and his two grandsons perished while escaping a wash, killing a blind man and endangering others as radio reports described the storm as the fiercest in years over the Navajo reservation.

Truck Crashes Into Loveland Crowd Injuring Elderly Man
A runaway truck driven by 18 year old Buddy Dean plowed into a sidewalk crowd in Loveland. A 73 year old man, a bystander, sustained serious injuries and an 18 year old, Mike Thura, suffered cuts and bruises. Buddy, son of A L Dean who operates the truck, could not stop the vehicle. The incident occurred while the elder Dean was away, leaving the truck in gear with the brake off.
