Louis B Garcia aged 30 of Keesey was arrested Friday evening after a four car wreck on a highway near Lucerne causing about 100 dollars in damage. Also mentioned are Say Durrett 30 of Denver charged with driving with four in a car. Durrett was with Lara Johnson Josephine Yock and Jess Davis at Windsor hotel. Davis later refused charge after taxi ride.

Mrs Blasio Stinson sues Alva Stinson in Greeley custody over seven children. Mien Duckingham, 32, of Keeries, was sentenced by District Judge Claude C. Coffin to up to five years in the state reformatory after pleading guilty to taking part in the burglary of two trucks from the Schubert Oils Company in June. Melvin Hogers, 24, of Keenesbur e, involved in the same crime, was on probation.

Washington July 29 Senator Nye republican ND backed to stall passage of a 1.64 billion lending bill. The Senate spent an hour on an O Mahoney oil amendment to shield private industry from government competition until Nye’s neutrality stance forced a pause. Nye urged tighter congressional control of foreign affairs and warned of a possible embargo dragging the nation into a European war.
Four Civilian Conservation Corps enrollees were killed and one reported missing after a brush fire driven by a wind swept through sagebrush near Orovada Nevada. The dead are Ernest Pinyin project assistant George Nene Kennedy Walter James and Frank Barker. Missing is Frank Vitale. Woods regional forester said the wind change drove the fire into the crew before they could escape. The group of four was part of a 72 member crew sent to the area. the rest escaped to safety on rocky knoll as the blaze grew. The fire started near Orovada and spread into trees outside the forest reserve boundary.
Early potato growers marketing association announces hiring of C. Howser as manager. Towser will be at the Gilcrest association office Monday morning. directors set a growers meeting at Gilcrest schoolhouse Monday at 7 o clock and invite neighbors. Potatoes are moving rapidly under the association plan and growers are pleased.
Weld County officials announce mailed allotments for the 1940 wheat program under AAA. Total county allotment set at 169,866 acres, up about 12 percent from 1930. New wheat farmers may apply for next year’s acreage. discussion and community meetings set for August 2 in Greeley.
Washington July 28 Senators Areavis and Johnson Colorado Democrats backed an amendment to restore prevailing wages for WEA employees. The measure failed 40 to 38 with Democrats 31 against 9 Republicans voting no. The vote split shows mixed support among parties and independents. Chicago wheat market rose with prices up more than a cent, extending gains from Monday.

Mrs. Hose Bessia Haney, 37, wife of James Haney of Ault, died after a fall led to a leg gash and later blood poisoning. She died at Greeley hospital early Saturday morning. Survived by husband, five children, and four parents, with numerous siblings and in laws. Funeral arrangements announced by Armstrong Mortuary in Eaton.

The Wold County Agricultural Conservation Committee and Frank Davis reach an agreement to construct a new office building on Tenth Street between Safeway and Roberts stores. The AAA plans a brick aluminum style structure to house its offices, fronting about 36 feet. Expected move-in within six weeks to ten months, no firm date set.
A report was filed Saturday with Shontt’s office by Wilbor Thomas of Carr regarding two fat cattle stolen from the Thomas Range heir. The one cow and other animal are described as missing from the renge baihe Carr wiel, with the claimant stating he suspects theft.
A funeral service for James W Cogburn of Plittevie will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 oclock in Macy's dining room. Interment is set for Masteriit cemetery.
C P Dodge, 62, long associated with Colorado education work and newspapers, died Saturday in his Denver home. He had served two terms in the Colorado House, led the Progressive Party in 1910 and 1916, and once edited newspapers in Colorado Springs before leaving politics after a presidential campaign. Dodge was a grandson of William E Dodge, founder of the Dodge family business.

The 20th Infantry unit, with 1160 miles to cover, will depart from Pt Manis Ro Warren for Cringellig, Tex, under Col Reinhard.
