Name Unknown Woman Found by City Hall Nurse Rescue

A woman about 24 to 28 years old, 5 feet 2 inches, 110 to 120 pounds with chestnut hair and grey eyes was found crying on a park bench opposite the city hall. Officer Albert Darling brought her to the city hall and later to a hospital. she remembers nothing of her identity or past, and carries a wedding ring bearing faint markings. Riggs Insists State Grants for Hospital Eliminated for 1937

County Commission discussion on hospital funding reveals that the state welfare department did not authorize any state or county support for hospitalized county patients in 1937. Commissioner Ross Riggs notes the 1936 allowance of 2.50 per day was discontinued and the hospital operated with a deficit of 11,723.90. Medical society argued 32,510.10 would have yielded a profit. Riggs contends crediting that sum would double charge and come from county taxes.

Denverite Fined for Speeding in Fort Lupton court

Earl W. Quayle of Denver was fined five dollars in costs for speeding at Fort Lupton Fort Lupton court on a Wednesday appearance before Justice Howard Murray. He also drew one dollar costs on a charge of buying the operator's license.

Bar Association Rejects Charter on Justice Black

Cleveland July 28 The American Bar Association assembly rejects 67 to 1 percent resolution seeking U S Supreme Court information on Justice Hugo Black eligibility. Dean Edward T Les of John Marshall Law School Chicago led the effort. no one spoke against the resolution. The committee also reported against a Germany disapproval resolution as improper for the bar association purpose.

Mexican Sixth To Drown In Weld This Year Witwer Will Take

County Treasurer Harvey Wile announced late Wednesday that four railroads Union Pacific Burlington C and S will pay a total of 346 719 34 in taxes to be collected in Weld County. Great Western to pay 370 060, with 70 168 41 of taxes disputed if court upholds 20 percent valuation increase resisted by railroads. Witwer accepts payment advised by Attorney Byron Rogery that it does not prejudice a possible challenge to the 20 percent increase. Previous payments include 20 619 74 by the railroad, 3 146 62 protested. Remaining due include 16 240 85 from the C and S 105 647 08 from Burlington 194 173 02 from Union Pacific and 13 740 47 from Great Western.

Blazing gasoline fatal to Denver woman in Sunday tragedy

Mrs. Mary Gay, 66, of 1061 South Gheralea street, burned while cleaning clothes with gasoline and died at Denver General Hospital. Neighbors reported a sudden pillar of flame and a blanket used to shield the gate as firefighters and police arrived. Mrs. Frank Butler of 1661 South Cherokee street and nearby residents Roy and Mrs. Coffey at 1608 South Cherokee street assisted and witnessed the blaze.

Four Children Perish in Cave Slide Disaster

Cleveland reports the suffocation of four youngsters under earth on a sandy hillside near a rapid transit line on Cleveland's southeast side. Victims named are William Malan 12 Agnes Ma jkraak 11 Odlew Krugcek 9 and Leonard Jarzembak 10 with Ruth Molzan 10 sister of Malan escaping and Babe Mugene Kuchniek 9 saved by digging with her hands. The accident followed a cave slide in a 60 foot embankment near a rapid transit line.

Chandler Hunt Renewal by Larimer Group in Mountain Search

Sheriff Karl Gooch states a search for Chandler Hunt, a 41 year old Jolington area farmer, is under way in the mountain west after a sighting report from a Greeley resident. A group including deputies, game wardens and a switch for the group is aiding the mountain search near the Duckhorn range 18 miles west of the area where Hunt vanished. A $1,090 reward posted by the Chandler family until July 1, 1939, plus FBI involvement, underscores the hunt for the missing man reported Oct. 11 near Slave Prairie, 40 miles northwest of here. Also, Ohioan Robert Roy McKinney is urged by Colorado Courtesy Patrol to contact his family.

A message received reports Premier Mitchell Hepburn and his party reached safety after being missing during a late night air journey from White Horse to Junction Alaska. Signal corps officials said they based the night at Carcross in Yukon Territory with Hepburn and party reportedly missing for a 200 mile stretch before being located.

May Expand WPA on Big RFC Reserve

Washington July 28 Secretary Tekew said the Public Works Administration may expand to provide another 3250,000,000 in construction. He noted plans under an agreement with Jesse H. Jones to take loans from a 1,500,000,000 RFC fund on big projects receiving grants from the RFC. The total estimated construction cost could rise toward 1,897,000,000 if the expansion proceeds.

Drowning Tragedy Near La Salle Ends in Recovery

In Weld County near La Salle, 22 year old Denver man Martin Martinez sank while attempting to swim across a small reservoir on the Henry Behrens farm. Greeley city firemen recovered the body at 12:20 PM after multiple drags with grappling hooks. Witnesses say Martinez, the best swimmer among his group, struggled about halfway across. several farm workers and locals aided in the search, with aid from Sheriff and Coroner officials.

Five Are Shot Dead In North Dakota Four In a Locked Residence

Morton county officials investigated a shotgun homicide at a residence near Mandan on July 28. The victims include Elva Mandy and her four family members, with authorities noting a note found at the scene and the body of a father in a nearby cornfield.
