David Graff 44 of Route 2 Eaton was killed in a two-vehicle crash at a rural intersection four miles west and three miles north of Eaton. Eleanor Biggs 22 of Route 1 Ault survived with injuries after her car struck Graff’s on a dirt and oil road after a partial blind corner. Coroner and highway patrol investigated. Graff’s wife Mollie and three sons were noted as survivors.

President Carlos Castillo Armas was shot by a palace guard and killed after a reception for businessmen. The assassin then killed himself. Guatemala declared martial law as officials and crowds mourned the shock killing. Eisenhower called Castillo Armas a personal friend and praised his stand against communism.

Soviet Rejects U S Swap of Air Programs
