London (AP) The British Court of Appeal rejected Robert A. Soblen's plea for release in Britain as unlawful detention. Soblen, a 61 year old psychiatrist and Soviet spy, contended habeas corpus rights. the government argued he should be expelled for entering the UK with a wider U.S. prison sentence. The hearing followed Israel's rejection of Soblen's immigration bid. Soblen had fled to Israel on a dead brother's Canadian passport and faced expulsion. He slashed his wrist and stabbed himself aboard a plane, was hospitalized, and later recovered. He then sought entry to Israel again under the 1962 Law of Return.
