Love travels to the Republican National Convention as a possible appeal looms.
Senator Barry Goldwater withdrew his bid for reelection to the Senate. AP reports from Phoenix that Goldwater, relaxing at his hilltop home, announced the formal withdrawal after winning the Republican presidential nomination. Edward K. Nellor released dispatches from San Francisco confirming the move and Nellor suggested a Phoenix stay as the nominee had planned to return to Washington.

Veteran congressman Wayne J. Aspinall, Democrat, was designated Friday to represent the newly enlarged Fourth Congressional District, a noncompetitive nomination ahead of the September 7 Republican primary. Aspinall faces state senator Ad Lamm and Gordon Weller in the clash for the November seat.
AP reports Joseph Alation and Willie Latgel faced a bank theft in Boulder with about $20000. Alation received four years evaluated by Judge Arras. Latgel got four years probation. The incident involved a dropped cash bag, with authorities confirming the money intact after the heist.
Crowds mobbed downtown Greeley shops for the second Crazy Day as Friday events kicked off with a costume parade.
