Firemen save Cameron Elementary as attic blaze damages north wing

Greeley firemen battled an early morning attic fire at Cameron Elementary School at 13th Avenue and 15th Street. Twelve firefighters from two stations controlled the blaze in about 20 minutes, with rock wool insulation and graphite delaying flames. Damage estimated around 20 000 dollars, roof sections and rafters heavily affected, and officials expect repairs before fall. Station patrolman Don Strickland discovered smoke at 4 59 am.

Senate Defeats Kennedy Aged Medical Care Bill

X15 Pilot Reaches 58 Miles Up As Astronaut Qualifier

Veteran pilot Robert M. White soared to 58 miles above Earth, becoming one of the few winged astronauts.
