Montana Dakota Whites Co spokesman asked the Montana Public Service Commission to allow a 6 percent return on its investment to attract investors. Death of C H Sample of Orchard at Weld County General

C H Sample of Orchard died Tuesday evening at Weld County General hospital. Born January 20 in Keokuk Iowa, he lived in Iowa before moving with his family to Homesteading east of Hereford in 1909. He married twice, first in Bloomfield Iowa in 1904 to Fednth Rominger, who died in 193? and later in 1949 to Kimball Wyn. Survived by widow, two sons Walter D of Orchard and Cal R of Greeley, one daughter Erma Clark of Cheyenne, siblings and many grandchildren. Funeral Friday at 2 oclock in Adamson Memorial chapel. Burial Pine Bluffs. Also note Wyn Benjamin Franklin could play several instruments.

City Council Approves Tractor and Backhoe Purchases

The council accepted the low bids for a Minneapolis Moline 335 Utility tractor and Davis backhoe at a net price of 4 439.10, with Reynolds Farm Machinery Co. selected. Power Equipment Co. bid 4 700 for a Trade Loader which was also approved, funded from the 1837 budget. City Manager B Cruce explained the loader and spader timing to optimize savings, though the spader was not scheduled until 1954.

Mrs Carrie Fix aged 70 or 71, mother of Mea W J Galland of 9227 Ninth Avenue, died early Wednesday at Weld County Nursing Home after long illness. Church member of Haxtun Methodist. Purgatoire Dam Authorized in House Water Projects Bill

The House Public Works Committee approved a water projects bill authorizing a dam on the Purgatoire River near Trinidad with a $16.28 million price tag. The dam would store about 407,000 acre feet of water and deliver irrigation and flood control for a large area around Trinidad, following a May 1958 flood that caused about 4 million dollars in damage.

Weld Convict Gets Longer Time For Escape Attempt

Clarence Van Gosen, inmate at Colorado Prison, faces an added 5 to 10 years on a 210 year term after an escape attempt June 3. Dist Judge Joseph J. Bunt denied probation and the sentence will run consecutively. Van Gosen, 22, from Weld County, had been sentenced for assault related to the guard strike incident. He would have been eligible for parole next December 24. Arthur Beck of Los Angeles, brother of Greeley mayor Oscar Hecking, arrived for a week’s visit and is with Security First National Bank.

Woman charged with murder attempt at dance tavern

Gertride Rodriguez 35 of East Faton Village faces charges of attempting to kill Rudy Manzonares 23 and assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly returning home to fetch a rifle and firing at him during a Saturday night incident at an Fast Paton tavern.
