He flew to Kodnoyek Field where Joe Crave a pro jumper fitted him with two chutes. In a plane piloted by Russell Thaw son of Evelyn Nesbitt Thaw he jumped and became twisted in the rope of one chute and failed to pull the ripcord of the other. His body landed in a Westbury atroshk.
