Eaton Frankie Johnson honored at Eaton supper events week

Frankie Johnson was feted with a february supper hosted by uncles Albin Carlson and Maris and Leland. Numerous Fort Collins, Windsor, and Eaton residents attended including Richard Berg, Bill Webster, Dick Brown, Paul Gray, and George Nelson. Franklin also attended a luncheon in Windsor and stayed with Harold Anderson and George Nelson in Eaton. A Denver visit, a Welton family trip, and various social gatherings of area clubs and families followed.

Montgomery Moves Into White House As TV Adviser

ED CREAGH reports Bob Montgomery, a former Hollywood actor and TV producer, has taken a White House office role advising President Eisenhower on radio and television techniques. He will work part time while continuing his Monday night drama show, spending much of his week at the White House.

Kefauver Assails Tank Contract Award to GM

Senator Kefauver challenged the decision to award a 4200 fullton dollar M4 tank payload contract to General Motors Fisher Body Division. Undersecretary Blezak defended the move as sound business judgment saying production should be centralized to a single producer to cut costs and ensure supply. Chrysler had submitted the only competing bid, but its bid was higher by about 12 million dollars, raising questions about long term efficiency and risk to production if the sole plant were damaged.

Phantom Sniper Executed at San Quentin

Evan Charles Thomas the Phantom Sniper, who terrorized Los Angeles, was executed at San Quentin after losing a federal habeas corpus plea. The 51-year-old former railway switchman killed Mrs Nina Bice, 25, and wounded six others including a 1-year-old girl, during a crime spree that began with a .22 caliber rifle. He died quietly as authorities carried out the sentence following the State Supreme Court ruling on his remaining legal questions.

Windsor Legion Plans Benefit Cage Contest
