Littleton Pupils Test Mousenik Firing Stopped After Safely Parachuted Mouse
Littleton High School halted a planned two stage rocket test after a live mouse named Flash was lofted skyward and later parachuted to safety. Principal Hazlett Wubbem said he learned of the incident Tuesday night and the district supported canceling further experiments. The Humane Society had urged Littleton authorities to avoid using animals in rocketry. A 20 gram mouse reportedly traveled over 2,200 feet before landing in a sparsely populated area west of Denver.

Cliff Edmundson to retire after 39 years at potato station
W. C. Cliff Edmundson will retire at the end of the month after leading the United States potato experiment station northeast of Greeley for about 39 years. Dr John G. Meteun will succeed him, coming from Aberdeen Idaho where he was senior horticulturist for the U S Department of Agriculture in potato breeding. Edmundson began as horticulturist in the region in 1918 and rose to senior horticulturist in 1948, taking charge of the station in 1919. He received honorary life membership in the Potato Association of America in 1955.

Three Youths Pursued by Loveland Cops Crash Car
Three 19 year olds, Lawrence Eatmon from Wellington Dan Ljungblad and Thom as G Miller from Fort Collins, were injured when a car fleeing Loveland police crashed into a highway earth packer south of Loveland. Eatmon suffered multiple fractures, Ljungblad leg and eye injuries, Miller rib and collarbone fractures, and all were taken to Loveland Memorial Hospital. Police began pursuit downtown when the car sped away, turned a dead end, and collided with the equipment. all three were ejected and landed over a fence.
