A shepherd dog woke farmer R. T. Frizzell in Godfrey Bottoms at 3 am causing him to escape through a window. He and neighbor Clifford Nichols then saved Nichols’ haystack and barn from sparks believed to have come from a Union Pacific freight engine on the Dent line.

Vandals Wreck Stoneham Home in Local Incident

Stoneham January 27 Vandals entered the Knifton ranch home during a family absence and ransacked the place. They broke a window turned furniture upside down upset a bucket of water and caused about $100 in damage. Neighbors report similar visits and a vigilance committee may be formed to identify the culprits.

Jan 27 Pierce report says Albert Swanson was moved from Greeley hospital to his home yesterday and is recovering well from an appendicitis operation.

Infant Death Reported in Evans

Word was received this morning of the death of Lester Todd Zittle, infant son of Mr and Mrs O L Zittle of Denver. Mrs Zittle formerly Phoebe Park daughter of Mr and Mrs G R Park of this place. The child was one month old.

Gammon Speaks at Local Bible Institute Session

Dr. Robert W. Gammon of Chicago was the principal speaker at a Congregational church Bible institute in this city. Rev. Allen S. Rush of Denver also attended and the afternoon session was described as very instructive. A further meeting was planned for tonight as part of a state series led by Gammon, a noted authority in Bible school work.

Broncho buster McKinley tied to saddle dispute

Charles McKinley the broncho busting performer in Denver faced a saddle dispute from Heiser Saddlery and local sheriff court action. J W Springer and deputy attempted to seize a saddle kept in McKinley's barn, breaking a harness room when refused. McKinley may appear in court to prove payment or relinquish the saddle.

Death of John S. Bickling at Dover prompts family shock

Bickling Sr H N receives telegram of John S. Bickling's death in Dover Delaware at age 75. He left to attend the funeral this afternoon. The passing was unexpected and shocks the family left behind in town. Earlier a visit by the elder Bickling brought a family reunion before a relative's death called him east.

Workers to Meet Sunday School Leaders in City Church

Teachers and officers of city Sunday schools plus others interested are urged to attend a meeting at the Methodist church Tuesday night. Dean G. R. Greeley Considers Municipal Gymnasium Bond Vote

A five member committee was named to study a city gymnasium near city hall with a $15 000 to $20 000 price tag and bond issue as the path to approval. Erie reports an organization of fifty stockholders of the State Coal company in Fort Collins with E. B. House as president and Winton Ault as secretary. They plan heavy machinery to produce 500 tons daily and aim to supply stockholders plus coal for sale. The Erie mine sits on 125 leased acres, coal quality praised, with stockholders from Colorado and Nebraska seeking rail switches.
