Damage suits from bus tragedy dismissed in Colorado

Light Plane Missing With Four Aboard En Route Denver

A light plane carrying four aboard was overdue after leaving Denver for Las Vegas. Piloted by Maynard Kurtz of Thornton, it carried two Denver attorneys named George Garner and Ed Stachelek, with a third passenger unidentified. The craft, a Cessna 195 owned by Puckett Aerial Survey, had five hours of fuel for a four and a half hour flight, and the route planned over Kremmling and Grand Junction or Hanksville. Weather included light snow and strong winds across parts of Colorado.

Tornado kills nine and injures six in Alabama

Severe weather tore through Harpersville and surrounding areas southeast of Birmingham. Nine people died and at least six were hospitalized as tornadoes damaged homes, power lines and trees across DeKalb and Walker counties. Missouri Arkansas and Illinois reports of tornadoes and hail followed a night of turbulent weather. Continuous damage, hazardous travel, and ongoing searches marked the aftermath.
