Gas Station Attendant Dies in Coal Stove Fumes Incident

Port Fort Moreen January 24 A deadly gas exposure at a filling station west of Fort Morgan claims the life of 73 year old Dilling station attendant Lox W. Hower. The other man in the room Don Clem 58 survives after a momentary exposure during the incident at the Johnston junction.

Windsor Fire Destroys Upper Floor of Mrs. Clegg Home

Windsor January 21 A fire severely damaged the residence of Mrs. Arcology in the south part of Windsor. The upper floor was destroyed and smoke and water damaged the lower level. Firemen battled the blaze from around 7 PM until it was brought under control. The home, the old farmstead of the Lawie Kern randh, once remodeled into two apartments, housed Mrs. Clegg and Mr. Cunningham families. All escaped unharmed though extensive damage was reported with losses likely over a thousand dollars.

Rex Cafe Owner Marks One Year in Greeley

J Q Jones and family arrived in Greeley on January 20, 1929 to oversee Rex Cafe which opened a year ago. Guests at a Tuesday dinner for patrons described Jones as a genial proprietor who has kept the cafe busy during the past twelve months as locals and county visitors greeted him.

Hoover Rises Early To Hear Conference

President Hoover started the day in the White House basement suite attending the London arms conference and later joined the regular morning meal in a closed court. Prison farm plan voiced for Colorado facility

The state board has decided to operate the Broadacts prison yard 18 miles east of Love for another year. The Ingersoll investment company, owners of the gravel range, issued conclusions the board must accept. Rev. H. B Hummel, pastor at large for the Presbyterian church in Colorado, died in Denver. He had served in Colorado Springs and other cities. survived by his site and three daughters. The funeral will be in Denver.
