Adams County Farmer Killed by Train Near Derby
Everett Clayton, 42, a Adams County farmer, was killed when a Burlington passenger train struck his tractor truck about five miles east of Derby. No other injuries were reported. He was returning home after taking three children to school. He was knocked from the cab and dragged 150 feet, with the truck rammed 200 feet further along the rails.

Heating Plant Failure Closes Jackson School

Govt Awards Contract for 5 Million Hydrofoil Ship
The government awarded a 5 million dollar contract for a pioneering hydrofoil passenger ship able to carry 100 people at speeds up to 40 miles an hour. The Maritime Administration says the vessel will shuttle between New York and Bermuda in eight hours, far faster than current two day trips. Dynamic Developments Inc. won a separate 1 million dollar contract to build the 80 ton vessel, an affiliate of Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp.
