In Weld County homes in Greeley suffer frozen water pipes after a cold spell. An estimated 400 houses lost water supply as pipes from mains to taps froze, with repairs using traction engines or electric thawing methods delaying restoration for days.
A Colorado dairy industry convention will convene in Denver January 16 and 17 with headquarters at the Windsor hotel. Experts from the States dairy division, Colorado Agricultural College, sugar factories, and breeders will attend. Dairy machinery firms filled the hall for exhibits as rail rates and attendance prospects are outlined, with many planning to visit the National Western Stock Show.
The Erie area endures a harsh freeze with frozen water mains and pipes. Officials consider upgrading to a 110 volt transformer to supply town electricity, while a steam roller works to clear blocks and restore service.
John Gentry died after falling from a roof at the new jar Thursday afternoon. His brother Joseph J. Gentry and another brother transported the body to Denver for funeral services. Parents Mr and Mrs Henry Gentry live at 3616 Williams Street Denver. The couple recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary among 24 descendants. Gentry, about 40, is survived by four brothers and three sisters in or near Denver.

In Racine and Kenosha counties, farmers face losses estimated at 1 60,000 as sugar beet companies refuse contracted beets. Over 200 000 tons sit to rot after orders to halt shipping as factories close due to unfit crop quality.

The Congregational Brotherhood held its annual meeting at the church after a chicken supper served by C. E. Phelps and committee. Prof. G. R. Miller spoke on Economics and Social Reform, followed by a discussion with Bert L. Kittle and William Mayher. Officers elected: Prof. D. D. Hugh president Vernon McKelvey vice president J. B. Patton secretary. about 35 men attended.
Five Colorado residents including Bruce G. Eaton and R. A. Chase testified before the house sugar investigating committee to refute earlier claims of peonage and slum labor in beet fields. They argued real conditions differed from the testimony of James Bodkin E A Combs and Albert Dacon and said Colorado civic and real estate groups selected the committee to counter the prior impressions.
The Union Ladies Aid met at Mrs. R. A. Barnes’s home in Pleasant Valley Wed afternoon. Reports showed Christmas boxes were sent to five needy families. Refreshments followed. The next meeting will be at Mrs. Leroy Carpenter’s home on February 7.
Kersey January 12 reports a tied shooting match between Gill and Kersey gun clubs. Representatives from Fort Collins, Greeley, and Denver attended. Captains Brown of Gill and Mac Henderson of Kersey led their teams. Hardy’s side won the oyster supper hosted by Kersey Ladies Aid for thirty attendees.
Poulterer Morris announces District No. 3 Weld county has secured a fully installed school vacuum cleaning system donated by McCrum Howell Co. The plant, valued at up to $5,900, will serve the new high school building and is one of the country’s most complete.
Severe cold and weeks of snow leave squirrels starving as they beg from pedestrians. Residents urged to scatter grain seeds and crumbs each morning to aid the tiny animals, noting many have not found hidden stores.
Word reached Greeley of the death of Mrs. George H. Adams on December 14 in Phoenix, Arizona. The 68 year old was widely known here where her husband served as pastor when the first church building was erected over thirty years ago. She suffered paralysis and had been totally blind for two years. She is survived by her husband.
Windsor, Jan 12. Ward Laybourn and Miss Mary Ayres were married at the Methodist parsonage at 7 pm with Rev. H. Seckner officiating. Their licenses were filed yesterday with consent from the bride’s mother. The same night Elsie Wilson wed John Comin in a quiet home ceremony. Ayres, a Virginia relative of John Law, once worked at the local telephone office. Laybourn, Pioneer Windsor native, works for Calvin Hahn Supply. Both couples plan to reside in Windsor.
The Ault Needle Work club met with Mrs. Marsh yesterday afternoon. Eight members attended due to stormy weather. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Albert Nichols.
