Supreme Court declines Lakewood misapplication case
Denver AP United States Supreme Court refuses to hear a case in which five men were convicted of misapplying $550000 in funds from the now defunct Rocky Mountain Bank of Lakewood Assistant U S Attorney Allan Spurgeon said Tuesday The five men may file a petition for rehearing within 25 days but the court grants such in one case out of 10100. A Denver man charged with posing as a landlord collected 715 from tenants and vanished from the premises before the actual landlord appeared He faces three felony counts of theft and criminal impersonation in Denver County Court The case stems from multiple tenant transactions at an apartment house near City Park in east Denver.

Love declines to join Wyoming AEC protest
Denver AP: Governor John Love said he would not lead or join protests by Wyoming residents against underground nuclear explosions. He received a wire from the Wagon Wheel Information Committee of Pine Dale Wyoming asking him to veto the proposed Rio Blanco shot in western Colorado. He said Colorado's duty is not to crusade for or against the Plowshare program.

Fisher bound over in Boulder for arraignment on attempted rape
Peter Ray Fisher, 45, of Aurora, bound over to Boulder District Court for arraignment before Judge Rex Scott Monday on charges of attempted rape. He waived a preliminary hearing in a case tied to a University of Colorado incident last July and has been jailed since November 4. Fisher previously faced kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon charges involving a Toll 1 year old girl and the kidnapping and murder of another, pleading not guilty by reason of insanity.

Sterling area school bond issue passes
Voters in the RE-1 School District approve a 2.2 million bond by 149 votes. Final tallies show 1,486 in favor and 1,396 against. The plan funds a combined junior and senior high school in the Crookliff area for Crook, Iliff and Padani students plus an addition to Sterling High School with classrooms a library and gymnasium.
