John E B Kinstedt was badly burned after an explosion at about 30 o clock. Elmer Koonan, driving for Tidball mder, aided by throwing him into a bank and dousing flames with snow. Kinstedt suffered severe burns to face hands and body before hospital treatment.
The Colorado state land board proposes setting coal on state land at 1.75 per ton under a renewed lease to Senator Frank. The lease includes a clause allowing cancellation if price terms are not met. Proponents argue state control helps consumers and miners while challenging the coal trust.
Schedule changes take effect January 2 affecting Denver and Greeley trains. No. 9 leaves Denver at 8:00 am, No. 3 at 4:80 pm. Greeley departures include No. 4 at 9:46 pm and No. 6 at 6: m. service reconfiguration may temporarily discontinue some trains.

Evans January 4 plans announced for a ten day state camp meeting in Evans Town Park. Free Methodists have secured council approval to host the event next June with visitors from Kansas Nebraska and neighboring states and a pew church recently built in the town.
Local organizers led by George Spear move to convert the Orchard farm two miles southwest of town into a modern sanitarium. A seven percent $25 000 debenture bond issue is authorized, backed by land and water rights. Architects are preparing plans and local capital shows interest for the project.
Jan. 4 report states Pardee, claiming pneumonia from being placed in Milliken jail cells with no fire, is slowly recovering though not out of danger. He threatens to sue Milliken town for damages.

Mrs. Mary OGrady hosted 25 bachelors and one married man for a roast goose supper at the Sterling cafe. The leap year party, lacking escorts, sang doleful tunes as they faced singledown fate. The crowd included a wide mix of Bachelor types in attendance.
Miss Ingma M. K. Allison urged a modern view of the girls code of honor at the farmers institute evening session. She contrasted today’s emphasis on display with past ideals of hospitality, conscience, and modesty and questioned whether true hospitality remains.
Windsor plans a new creamery with over 5000 dollars in equipment and 265 cows pledged. The project, led by Harrison Teller and the Windsor executive board, aims to improve farmers income by selling butter fat and feeding skimmed milk to calves and hogs, with aims to hire a manager/butter maker from Colorado Agricultural College.
Revival meetings at the Pentacostal Church of the Nazarene on Seventh Street between Eleventh and Twelfth avenues attract large audiences nightly at 7 30. Rev. EB. Ferguson of Mt. Ault hosts formation of an indoor baseball league with teams from the north and south sides, the militia company, Pierce, Olive Branch, and Fairplay districts. All games occur at the Ault armory, with a league meeting tonight to elect captains and set the schedule. A premier north versus south alder game follows the meeting.
The G. D. G. club of Gill young women hosted a grand banquet at Gill and Decker hall last night with 838 covers. Leap Year customs were observed as they invited male guests and showcased elegant hosting.

Senator Guggenheim has introduced a bill in the U S senate to raise the cost limit for the Greeley federal building from 75000 to 200000, promising an extra 125000 for the structure. Colorado representatives are urged to influence passage as Denver’s federal building seeks a 500000 addition.
At the Farmers Institute the program centered on dairy cows and silos. Prof C H Hinman outlined selecting dairy cows and silage use, with notes on tuberculosis testing, profitability, and the cement silo versus patents. Petrikin, Painter, and Maris added views on livestock expansion and silo building benefits in Weld County.
Prospects rise for a cooperative creamery in Gin as farmers pledge cream from 140 cows. Organizers aim for 300 cows total, forming a stock company to manage the venture and share profits. A dairy expert will be invited to discuss the plan at the Brotherhood meeting at L. W. ranch.

Rogers were appointed and confirmed as night policemen after a city council special meeting following the dismissal of Nate Sherwood for intoxication at a Camfield hall dance. Cecil Preston resumes motorcycle duty. 26 applications were considered with two hires deemed best qualified. The council also reviewed a long‑pending building ordinance while Mayor Mayher vowed strict merit-based dismissal for poor performers.
Miss Anna Gardner and Frank Brooks were married at the bride's home 1223 Thirteenth Street. The ceremony at 4 o'clock was performed by Rev. F. J. Estabrook in a decoratively adorned house. The bride taught in Greeley schools two years and previously worked in New Mexico Indian schools. The couple will reside in Greeley. Brooks is a businessman from Running Water.
Fractured right elbow sidelined Pibow Chan Rice of Greeley High School after a basketball injury. He played five days before medical evaluation revealed the fracture yesterday.
Three year old son of Jacob Raver living west of here caught his left hand in a revolving wringer while helping his mother with laundry. The finger was crushed to a pulp and treated by a Greeler physician.
Loyal Order of Moose lodge No 3290 will install its officers for the year at the hall on Fidth Avenue and Eighth Street. A large attendance is anticipated.
The ladies' missionary society of the Congregational church holds its January meeting in the church parlor at 2 30 PM on Friday January 5. Mrs Reed and Miss Burnard will lead an interesting program expected to draw a large attendance.
