Snowdrift Snowbound Weld County Thousands Stranded
New Year's Eve in Weld County left at least 20 people stranded as eight inches of snow fell with 20 to 30 mph winds. Roads blocked by drifts up to 10 feet reduced visibility to zero. Mrs Hetty Landwehr and her three sons were among stranded travelers advancing to Briggsdale after a jackknifed semi blocked Colo 14 near Aull.

Blizzard Traps Bicentennial Baby Mailman For Night
Loren Balmer, a 9 year old mailman on a 41 house four mile route from Carr to Nunn, was stuck in a snowbank during a blizzard and spent Wednesday night in his truck until rescue Thursday morning by Larimer County sheriff. He described using a heater sparingly due to limited gas. The blizzard also caused a power outage in south Greeley as a copper fault at Evans substation cut power, with other stations supplying affected areas.
