Farmer charged with assault in fatal attack on Dick Armstrong Sr.
Lou Galliton, a Big Bend farmer, is jailed on a charge of assault with intent to kill Dick Armstrong Sr., found unconscious on a road near La Salle. Armstrong, 64, is in critical condition. if he dies, the charge becomes murder. The lawsuit over a board bill preceded the alleged attack.

Cupid and leap year boost the count of marriage licenses to 217 in 1912 issued by the county clerk in Greeley. Residents from Windsor and other towns, plus visitors from Wyoming and Nebraska, earned the area a reputation as a Gretna Green with courteous clerks and officiants. The first 1913 license went to Henry Eichorn and Mary Wchenmeister of Windsor, with many ceremonies dated in 1912 but performed the day before.
