A rolling quake struck Tokyo causing water pipes to break and minor injuries to three people. On Hachijo Island, about 3,500 homes lost water as pipes broke and telephone lines were cut. Traffic halted at three places and reduced at nine due to landslides. walls collapsed and more damage to houses on the 10,000-strong island, 20 miles south of Tokyo.

Wounded Irish Official Becomes Father After Injury
John Taylor, a Northern Ireland minister wounded in an IRA assassination attempt, has welcomed his first child with wife Mary Teft. The baby girl was born Monday night and both mother and infant are reported doing very well. Taylor, 34, remains hospitalized but able to sit up, with the family calling the birth a tonic amid his recovery.

Woman Injured in Greeley Two Vehicle Collision
An Ault woman was injured and taken to Weld County General Hospital after a two car crash at 16th Street and 110th Avenue in Greeley. Rachel P Klausner, a passenger in Betty Ruth Deibel’s car, complained of knee pain and was later released after recheck. John Hakenson of Kenton Nursing Home drove the other vehicle. his car was left with moderate damage and towed from the scene.
