Senator Jordan Recovering After Cancer Surgery in Duke Hospital
Senator B Everett Jordan of North Carolina remained wide awake alert and resting well after a 13 hour operation at Duke University Medical Center to remove a malignant tumor from his colon. Doctors removed part of the large intestine and reported no signs of cancer spread. his return to normal activity is anticipated but length of stay was undetermined. Jordan, 74, entered Duke Thursday for a physical check ahead of a 1972 reelection bid and is a longtime chairman of key Senate committees.
