Mrs Mary Bostron 62 of 423 Twelfth Street suffered severe burns when a container of circulating oil exploded in her kitchen basement while pouring oil into a stove. Her husband George helped fight flames as five rooms were damaged. The Bostrons had moved from a farm near Suelay’s Fake to town a year ago and have several children in the area.

Four Greeley youths hurt in highway crash
An early Sunday afternoon crash on Highway 55 injured four Greeley youths. In Walsenburg Sheriff Claude Swift reported an early morning shooting at Homer Danbury’s ranch house about 40 miles east of Walsenburg. Craig Archulela, 86, was killed during an attempt by four intruders to force entry. Danbury braced the door and fired a shotgun as one intruder pushed a gun through a partly open door. Identify of the shooter remained unclear.
