Orchestra Drive appoints vice chairmen for Denver Symphony
Willard A. Johnson announces Mrs. Emmett H. Heitler and Theodore D. Brown as vice chairmen of the 1972 sustaining fund drive. The goal is 550000, over one third of the 1560000 annual operating need, with remaining from ticket sales and other services. The Roettcher Foundation provided a 150000 challenge grant, matched two to one, the largest grant in the orchestra’s sustaining fund history. Both vice chairmen sit on the Denver Symphony Association board.

Denver flood control project outlined by Army Engineers
U S Army Engineers describe a flood control plan for Sand and Toll Gate creeks near Denver. The proposal includes dams dry pool reservoirs and a lake at Castlewood plus Cherry Creek spillway raises and channel work to provide flood protection and open space for recreation. Land use would shift on over nine thousand acres with nine farmsteads displaced and some vegetation lost. a small waterfall and a historic Castlewood landmark would be removed.
