Denver Shell Oil workers go on strike in Denver
About two hundred members of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union walked out at the Shell Oil chemical plant in Denver joining roughly four thousand others on strike at Shell plants along the Pacific and Gulf coasts. The dispute centers on a health and safety clause and a top level corporate union review of the pension plan. The Denver plant on Rocky Mountain Arsenal grounds will shut down during the strike while other strikes affect Long Beach, Martines, Anacortes, Pasadena, and Norco. A nationwide boycott of Shell products was launched in support of the walkouts.
