Drowned Boy in Weld County Ice At Calkins Lake

Carl Wilhelm Jr., fourteen, of Longmont, died after a skating accident on Calkins Lake. He sank in fifteen feet of water while friends raced on thin ice and was recovered after about twenty minutes under water. The tragedy stunned local youths and marked Weld county’s first ice death of the winter.

Travelogues at Park Delight Audiences

The Park Theater opened with Martin Johnson presenting a travelogue on the South Sea Islands, enhanced by lectures and dances revealing daily life.
