A weary couple traveling to Bethlehem seeks shelter as crowds flood inns. With no room, the husband makes a straw bed in a cave stable. The wife goes into labor and in a snow of dawn a baby is born, as a holy moment unfolds with the infant Jesus.
A weekend storm blankets the county with heavy drifting snow. Greeley reports up to one inch, but southern areas see five foot drifts. Blowing snow delays road openings and a Cheyenne missile crew is stranded. Officials warn residents to stay home as blizzard conditions persist. Weather advisory predicts 1 to 9 inches more with rough travel and cooler temperatures.

Claudel Williams 2430 74th Lt Ra was killed Saturday night in an auto accident at Lucerne reported by the Colorado State Patrol. Williams died from massive head and internal injuries at Weld County General Hospital after his 1907 pickup struck the rear wheels of a semi trailer driven by Phillip Hetue of Denver. Hetue was uninjured as the semi slowed before impact. Both vehicles sustained $1,000 damage.
Weld County General Hospital assistant administrator Wendell Fuller says the hospital will not refuse service to anyone referred from East Side Health Center, though funds are lacking for East Side patients. State law requires care for all county ill or injured, with billing for West Side patients and potential payment by welfare or other public agencies for indigent cases.
The Bailey Construction Co. of Broomfield posted the apparent low bid of 5 048 607 for the initial U S 44 bypass east project in Greeley. Colorado Division of Highways opened bids from about 10 bidders for twin bridges across the US 34 bypass near 1st Avenue east of U S 44. State Highway Department engineers could not be reached for more details.
