Specialist Torrez, son of Mrs. Torrez of Greelay Colorado, was chosen to represent his Company A in Jump Light at Fort Campbell Kentucky. He enlisted in October 1954, completed training at Fort Ord and attended Colorado State College of Education before joining the Army. Ensign Beryl Bell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bell of Kersey Colorado, received her officer commission after eight weeks of training at the U S Naval School Newport News. She will serve at a naval shore establishment after further eight weeks of training. Bell, a 1996 Sterling College graduate, was active in Mu Phi Epsilon and named in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
James A. McCary, 20, of Springfield, formerly Long Beach, faced a 10 dollar fine for a traffic or petty offense. He flew in from Springfield to attend court, spent ten dollars on travel, and could not cover a root beer. The judge suspended the 10 dollar fine, citing his intent. He now plans to return to Springfield for work.
Otto Guy Edwards of Edwards Chevrolet and Edwards Modern Living will be listed in the forthcoming tenth edition of Who's Who in Commerce and Industry to be published next July. The biographical entry covers his birthplace Eureka Springs Arkansas born October 13 1883 his career with Edwards Chevrolet and related firms and his roles as president and co owner of local ventures.
