Natural gas blast in Clinton kills eight, injures others
An explosion from accumulated natural gas in Clinton Saturday night destroyed a half-block area of the Clinton town square. Eight people died including Darlene Hunter and four others. seven were injured and four hospitalized. Rescue efforts were hindered by rubble as a mother and daughter remained trapped. Estimated damage was not set, but expected to reach at least 240000. Victims listed: Darlene Hunter, 27. Mrs. Mike Uniter, 62. Dr. Ronald West, 30. Herman Leroy Steward, 33. Charles Frederick Wilson, 23. Mark James Beattie, 41. Maurice Parvis, 58. all from Clinton.

Indian museum construction underway in Tahlequah
Ground was broken near Tahlequah for a 618000 museum for the Cherokees.
