District Attorney William Haywood reported a 16 year old boy admitted trying to wreck a passenger train near Gennd Junction, Colorado River area, to see what would happen. Special railroad agents, led by Jennick, questioned and observed the suspect on the track as a slow freight train passed by. The boy’s claim was he wanted the aftermath explained by police.
In Nexutated Beery Puok Indiana authorities report a family quarrel over who should care for a widowed mother led to a double slaying. Edna Landrus, 42, of Paollami, and Harley A. Dailey, 48, a patient at Vincennes tuberculosis hospital, were fatally wounded after an uncle and the son exchanged gunfire amid disputes about care. Jewall Bailey, 21, of Puell, allegedly shot the uncle, and Dailey then killed the uncle with a pistol in a hilltop dwelling seven miles southeast of here. The shooting occurred during a dispute over which relative would care for the mother, Mrs. Jackson Dalley.
Sterling telephone worker, 36, found dead by gas in his apartment after a domestic dispute. Coroner reports wife and daughter fled to a hotel with the mother-in-law. wife returned to discover him in bed with kitchen gas jets on. Missing details include exact names and locations.
New York reports the death of composer and pianist Dr. Wilhelm Grosz age 43 in a dramatic finale at the opera Der Fateskazer. He struck the final chords then fell into the arms of three friends Irene Jessen Faust and Steal Book as onlookers whispered a declaration and prayers.
President Roosevelt approved today expenditure of 24590 for WPA projects in the Cleveland area. General works administrator John Carmod advised that the projects were previously authorized and would operate for six months, intended to relieve acute unemployment in the Cleveland region.
