Gov. Richard Lamm and top aides met for two days at Keystone Lodge to plan 1977 actions with a Republican dominated legislature. The meeting with executive department officials ended Monday. A veto strategy was briefly discussed but no details or plan was offered.
Weld County officials discussed a policy to grant current department employees priority for openings within their department, with open slots to all county workers and then the public if no internal interest. Also eyed are paid sick leave and health insurance after 30 days, plus supervisor training on abuse detection. Other actions included liquor license renewals for Greeley Country Club Crow Valley Liquors Red Steer Lucerne and Ramada Inn Del Camino, and a Mile High Turkey Hatchery plan for a second mobile home on a Peckham farm.
The Walton Building cleaning contract concerns eased as owner Clarence Parker of R Cleaning said issues, including false burglar alarms and missed wastebaskets, have been fixed to the Social Services Department’s satisfaction. County plans to rebid the contract may raise costs, with Parker noting his firm’s monthly charge of 3600.
The proposal frames a delta-site plant and support system with costs rising from about 6 million to around 7 million. Design work began in 1977, with construction not starting until spring 1978 at the delta-site facility.
