Opposition Endures to Upper Basin Echo Park Dam

Conservation groups refuse to withdraw opposition to the upper Colorado River storage program even if Echo Park Dam in Dinosaur National Monument is dropped. The Upper Colorado River Commission, meeting in Denver, heard Iva J. Gaslin say paid officers justify their jobs as the fight continues. Gaslin noted California interests have spent hundreds of thousands since 1950 while the four upper basin states spent about 90,000 in the latest effort. Governor Johnson, absent at first, joined later after Colorado commissioner Frank Delaney delivered a belated invitation.
