The Mayor of Chicago settled an income tax dispute with the federal government for approximately 100,600 dollars. He explained repayments to campaign activities were not initially treated as income and that subsequent adjustments and interest brought the total to about 100,600.
The public is invited to a flower show at the Greeley Building on Eighth Avenue. Entries must be in by Saturday morning with spaces reserved by Friday afternoon. Exhibitors should bring pullable containers and arrange tables by Friday.
Astrologist Professor Rajah, famed psychologist and numerologist, will present exhibitions of his arts. A veteran of the U S Army and long associated with the American Legion, he has appeared across the United States, Mexico, and Europe.

New Yorker attorney Henry P. Freeco of New York City will lecture on Mormonism at the First Presbyterian church auditorium August 18 at eight oclock. An expert on Mormonism, he is author of several scholarly articles and a former missionary worker who studied at Park College and Columbia University. The talk is free and open to the public.
Detroit August 17 Sen James Couzens Republican Michigan testified before the Detroit bank inquiry jury that he was informed by President Hoover during the campaign that a $90,000,000 loan to the Chicago bank led by Charles Dawes was approved for political purposes The statement reflected concern over the RFC loan and its potential impact on public confidence Couzens urged the Adams to appoint a committee to investigate all loans for secrecy Dawes had received the loan in June for a new bank and opponents warned of ripple effects on deposits and public trust

Akron attorney Mark Hi Shank 41 entered a not guilty plea to the killings of Alvin Colley and his wife and two sons. He was ordered held without bond as the county grand jury considers the case. Also, Dr Willan M McGovern spoke to the History Club at Teachary college about his Amazon river trip.

Earl D. Fire, once a Lakewood Country Club caddy, sues Denver businessman and club member George T. Charpiot for 60000 in damages claiming eye injury and loss of sight after a caddy wagon collision. He alleges Charpiot failed to give proper warning and drove recklessly while Figg was caddying for other players.
Aug 17 Paris police ordered to aid the investigation after a holdup in Los Angeles wounded Crombia Allen, publisher, and Miss Cora Withington, 46, a school teacher. A woman companion claimed to drive the car when an assailant opened fire, striking Allen in the neck and wounding Miss Withington in the cheek before fleeing. Doctors planned X rays to check for further injuries.
