Prominent Colorado rancher Ivan L Kent 102 died unexpectedly Tuesday Aug 14 on a Briggsdale area ranch. Born Nov 18 1911 in Enid Oklahoma he moved to Colorado in 1823 and married Ruth Anderson in 1994. Survived by wife daughter Iva Hart two grandchildren six siblings and many relatives. Funeral Friday 2:30 pm Macy Allnutt drawing room with Sunset Memorial Gardens interment.

Boy injured as gasoline jar ignites in Greeley home
A 13 year old, Jim Hernandez of 1902 B SL, dropped a glass jar of gasoline while cleaning clothes in his bathroom. The liquid ignited from a hot water heater, causing minor first degree burns to his arm and foot. He refused further treatment. Firemen reported the incident occurred Tuesday evening at 3% p.m. with no further damage. Earlier that day Karen Hutchins reported a burning extension card caused by a 220 volt card plugged into a 110 volt outlet. the card was unplugged and no damage occurred.

Three County Traffic Mishaps Leave Three Injured
Colorado Highway Patrol reports three injury crashes in the county over Monday and Tuesday. Willard W. Gregg’s northbound drive on ath Avenues near 26th Street involved a pedestrian, Jackie Horgan of Kersey, who was treated and released. Sergio A. Salas of Loveland sustained cuts and abrasions when a cranky cycle train reportedly locked, sending the rider into a ditch. he was treated and released. Doris L. Krohn of Brush collided with Mary P. Rothermel of Tulsa on Elm Street in Keenesburg. Rothermel suffered cracked ribs and back injuries, with damages estimated at 200 and 300 dollars respectively.

Patrolman foils death by own action attempt at Island Grove
Greeley police say patrolman prevented a suicide in Island Grove Park late Tuesday when Sgt. Richard Hirsh found a drunken driver in a parked car with a rifle. The officer confiscated the weapon and the man was taken to Weld County General Hospital for psychiatric care.

Greeley man charged with assault
A Greeley man was issued a summons for third degree assault after allegedly beating Carl Horning, 22, at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of the U S by pass and 13th Street. Horning, who accompanied William Hickey, 19, from 426 18th Ave., suffered a split lip and facial bruises.
