Final Concert of Band Tues at Ganien Theater

Eleven student conductors will lead Colorado College of Education summer concert band in the last program of the season at Ganien Theater Tuesday at 8 o'clock. Director Ralph R. King says the program features a great variety of selections and marks the 13th season’s end with record audiences. White House Renews Efforts To Prevent Railway Strike

Washington August 14 The White House renewed efforts to avert a strike by 390000 railroad workers and conductors that could disrupt national rails. An adjutant general led talks with railroad interests unions and the mediation board. Tiny and night conferences extended into the weekend with no new agreement on the 40 hour work week.

Mother and Daughter Welcome Babies at Same Hospital

Mrs. Clifford Carrell of Torco farm and her daughter Gennyos Rice of Ault both had babies at Ostoo gall Memorial hospital two days apart. The elder gave birth to a 7 pound 3 ounce girl and the younger, a 7 pound 2? ounce boy, tying their families by birth. The Carrolls reside near Pleree, while Rice is from Ault, both at the same hospital.

Weld County Draftees Take Physical Exams Monday

Forty-one Weld County draftees took their physical examinations in Denver Monday. They left Greeley by bus at 8 30 a m after a stop at a local sale and were to return home in the evening to receive further orders. The group included members of the county draft board J H Kester Harlan Strong and W E Beck. Some went directly to the induction station while 12 transfers were sent from Weld County. Thirty-five more are planned for Friday. The September draft total is not yet announced. The group consisted of young men around 18 to 20 years old with some married. Lunch was provided at noon.

House Moves To Revive Lost Mail Delivery

The House debated reviving post delivery, voting 248 to 81 to bring to a vote a bill to end the two postal orders and reimpose a one daily delivery. Seven Injured as Head On Crash Near Bermondia

A head on collision north of Bermond, Colorado, injured seven people Sunday afternoon. William Bunton and Charles Afterbach, both 20, and Evelyn G. Goodnight, 32, suffered serious injuries. Driver Gudnard Goodnight, 24, said he swerved to wake his wife, Evalyn, who was asleep beside him. Evalyn appeared paralyzed briefly but was improving. Others injured included Glenn Oslund, 19, William Sinclair, 19, and James H. Petry, 22, all of Cheyenne, plus two more treated for cuts and bruises at Fort Collins Hospital.

First Annual Employer Employee Picnic at Island Grove Park

More than 600 people expected for the 1st annual employer employee picnic sponsored by the Retail Division of the Grealey Chamber of Commerce at Island Grove Park on Wednesday.
