Senate Votes To Extend Soldiers Service By Eighteen Months

In Washington Aug 7 the Senate backed extending active duty for soldiers guardsmen and reserves by 18 months after debate over whether to limit the period. The vote was 44 to 25 with Wheeler and Cotton among those opposing the extension. The measure allows termination by resolution and could be adjusted to 2 1/2 years if needed for national defense. Mrs May Tutect Russell 52 of Sixth Street wife of W H Raw soll died late Wednesday in Greeley funeral services set for Friday at 4 AM at St Peter Catholic Church rosary to be recited Thursday at 8 PM at Macy’s drawing room. Survived by daughters Kathryn and Dorothy and three sisters Hesgle O’Grady Marlorie Patterson and Gartrude Me Cutcheon. Born Staple Quist Nebraska she lived in Greeley most of her life.

Santa Fe Mail Train Derailed Near Rat on

A derailed 11 car express train on the Santa Fe line south of Raton, New Mexico, blocked traffic today. None of the cars left the rails. officials said no injuries occurred. Crews planned rapid traffic restoration and expected trains to resume normally by nightfall.

August Pension Costs Rise for Colorado Aged
