Marian Gilbert Society Editor notes hours and social timing with Friday afternoons limited. Greeley lodge schedule lists Pythians and Elks events across Monday to Saturday, plus wedding notices for Clara Frank and Ethel Hadley with Rosco Sampson, and several veterans group plans for D U V and Woodcraft meetings in coming weeks.
Leaves for Washington to renew petition with foreign commerce bureau. Maridel Rudd returns from San Francisco after attending Baptist youth convention with 38 delegates from Colorado. Local gatherings include Amigas Club at Glen Haven, a Meade hosts luncheon, and multiple visits by California guests inspiring weekend socials. Communities share bridge, sewing, and garden parties with neighbors from Meade to Gill.
Milice election of officers at the next meeting follows a social hour with lovely refreshments. About 35 ladies enjoyed the afternoon. The Sociaty meets Aug. 14 at Mrs. Benjamin Reese's home with her daughter Mrs. Bert Stevens as hostess. A party at Mead Parsonage on Aug. 4 hosted by Mrs. Buenhoch and others for the Senior Bible class featured games and late hour refreshments. Mrs. Chandler hosted a birthday dinner on Aug. 4 with Mr. and Mrs. Ox Day, Barbara, and other guests from Fort Calling, and T. B. Annis family attending.
The report notes the Sunday Lesson-Sermon across Christian Science churches on August 3 with the Golden Text, No man hath seen God. It cites Romans 13 10 and a Mary Baker Eddy excerpt from Science and Health emphasizing Love Life and Truth as laws of annihilation to error.
Boulder August 4 registration for the University summer school's second term dipped to 1423 students, down 495 from 1929. Director Milo G Derham notes financial conditions and student inability to remain for the second term as reasons, while records show 1928-29 had high enrollments. The breakdown lists Arts, Business, Engineering, Graduate, Law, Medicine, Music, Nursing, Pharmacy, and other departments with varied changes, including a notable 135 drop in Graduate registrations despite a net gain over 1928.
J J Mock has arrived in Greeley to head the radio department at Clough Furniture. He will bring his wife from Boulder and reside here. Mock previously led the radio department at McAllister Hardware in Boulder for ten years after Albert Glaugh of the local store interviewed many candidates. Dr Clough feels fortunate to hire a thorough radio expert.
Radio man Mr Cloughie announces the Atwater Kent module will debut August 6 with a nationwide hookup at 4:90 Greeley time. He retains agency for the popular Atwater Kent and its Spartan quality ring. A gilded shipping case advertises the new model while trade observers see it as a key to pricing across major brands. The announcement will be carried by local papers nationwide.
