The Greeley sewage lagoons have shown odors within acceptable limits for over a month as city officials credit chlorination of plant water and bypassing pretreatment. Two lagoons now run with heavy grease covers and a grease cap approach is being developed with EPA input to curb seasonal odors ahead of a July deadline.

Accidents injure two women bicyclists
Two UNC students living on the same block were injured in separate bicycle incidents Monday. Patricia Marie Phivel, 21, of 2242 10th Ave, was thrown when her purse entangled in the wheel at 6th Avenue Court and 25th Street, suffering head and facial injuries and was taken to Weld County General Hospital in serious but stable condition. Deborah Christine Mousolite, 19, of 2221b Ave, was injured when a car collided with her bike in the Hillside Shopping Center parking lot and treated and released from Weld County General Hospital. Gerald Merritt of Brighton was identified as the car’s driver.
