University geologist to lecture at UNC on red bed origins
T. R. Walker, sedimentologist from the University of Colorado, will lecture at the University of Northern Colorado on Wednesday through the American Geological Institute Visiting Geologist program. Sponsored by the Garth Sciences Department and NSF funds, the talks cover red bed origin theories, oxidation of iron minerals, and color changes with sediment depth.

The University of Northern Colorado Library gains a valuable collection of Quaker books and papers valued at over 100, with portions dating to the mid 1800s. The Thomas family, long prominent in Weld County and Greeley history, donated the materials from Calvin, Sophia, Dan B. L. and other family members.
