State seeks extension to meet Denver clean air plan
DENVER AP Dr. Gerald Wood head of the Colorado Air Pollution Control Commission said Friday the state will ask the federal government for an extension to May 15 to meet a court deadline for a clean air plan. The EPA deadline is Sunday for presenting the plan. Wood said Gov. Love will sign a letter requesting the extension in the next few days. The revised plan would impose new pollution limits and strategies to cut Denver traffic by up to 50 percent, including gas rationing or higher taxes based on vehicle use. The plan aims to bring the Denver area into compliance by 1977.
