Reed reports on April 1 forecasted winter wheat at 14,014,000 bushels in Colorado and adjoining areas, potentially the largest since 1941. Crop condition at 92 percent of normal promises about 11 bushels per acre on 1,274,000 acres, with moisture reserves cited as adequate in many regions. rye at 80 percent of normal on 110,800 acres. A steel plant watchman Donald R. Brown was killed answering a fire alarm at the Colorado Fuel and Iron plant last night. He wed Monday in Rat on New York was driving a car when a truck struck, sending him through a windscreen and a guard. James Bowman was injured but not critically. Company officials noted this is the first fatality this year amid many workers at the plant.

New York April 17. W I Koepler, snakerman for southern soft coal operators, announced the southern operators have bolted the conference after weeks of talks to agree on a new contract with miners. In the State Appa Anchian area Koepler says President Hoonewell, Secretary of Labor Fer king, and John d Lewis of United Mining Workers were being united against the southern operators.
D T Muller former Greeley business man died Thursday night in Ida Grove Iowa from a rare blood disease after months of poor health. He owned Greeley Auto Equipment and later moved to Colorado for health before returning to Iowa. Survived by brother A L Muller of Greeley and several nephews and nieces including Marguerite and Aletha.
A car reported stolen near Cheyenne Friday morning was recovered near Skaggs ranch after an early morning chase and crash. The vehicle, towed to a local garage, involved minor injuries to the driver as police investigated the incident.
