His younger companion Joseph Laftua aged 14 was badly shaken and left behind behind a wall of corn and debris. Duvas was brought to a hospital suffering from nervous shock. A 53 year old miner, Morris, drowned in a sump at Central City’s gold mill yesterday after entering a 60 foot deep water pit. Coroner Montgomery stated it was an accidental death as Morris led Callen into the sump. Relatives joined the search as the body was recovered at night. Morris left a wife and three children.
