General Foods, the leading coffee wholesaler, raised regular ground coffee prices by 15 cents per pound effective Thursday, pushing Maxwell House from 1.74 to 1.89 per pound. Folger’s followed with a 15 cent rise for vacuum packed ground coffee and 2 cent per ounce for instant. Officials cited higher green bean costs from Brazil and weather disruptions in Colombia, Angola, and Guatemala.
