Mrs Barrett of Walsh dies at her daughter’s home in Fort Lupton after a long life linked to New Mexico outlaw Billy the Kid. Born 1855, she was a descendant of General Robert E. Lee and homesteaded in the Race County area. Survived by four daughters and a brother, services set at Vetter chapel Fork Lupton Friday.

Dr Joseph G Haefell was installed exalted ruler of the Greeley Elks Lodge at a Wednesday ceremony. His son Dr Edwin J Haefell presided. The move followed heated talks and Morris’s role in anti corruption inquiries. Morris left the Justice Department after receiving formal notification of termination. Morogi Morris had been brought in to root out graft in City government and faced scrutiny over his methods and ties to White House discussions.

Western Union in Greeley suspended operations Thursday as a nationwide strike began at midnight. Two operators and the clerk affected as the office, open Wednesday until 10 p.m., shifted to telegrams while the union president warned service would fall to a trickle due to wage and other demands.

Berl Sims age 73 died early Wednesday after a long illness. He is survived by a brother Homer Sims of Greeley. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday at Macy's drawing room with interment at Evana Cemetery. Santa Fe Firm Gets Rocky Flate Teh Denver, April 4. Craftamen Construction Co of Santa Fe, NM, has won a contract for construction of a health facility building at the Rocky Flate energy commission plant. The low bid was $209,989. The project is near Denver. Advance estimate was $311,897. Thirteen other firms bid.
