A Denver payroll report outlines the transfer of 117 state employees from the Denver metro area to rural Colorado communities. The move, described as a late payroll adjustment, reallocates resources across regional offices and aims to balance staffing levels statewide.
Governor Lamm announced a six month relocation plan moving 41 of Colorado state employees to 29 communities outside Denver. Eagle county absorbs 18 moves and Durango 13 while Grand Junction gets 11. A second phase targets Logan and La Plata counties with reassignment options for those not relocating.
Mountain Aggregates of Platteville reports the Canal No. 2 concrete box culvert near 90 percent done at the 35th Avenue project site. A temporary graveled surface will allow two to three weeks of traffic, with four-laning talks and additional right‑of‑way needed. Completion of the four‑lane segment is aimed for late summer, with plans for Weld 13 routing and seven town street projects in federal and local funding totaling about 527,100.
Colorado Territory reports a new banking company formed with $40,000 capital. Directors include B F Johnson and J F Benedict withJohnson as President and Benedict as Cashier. Operations begin next Tuesday in the same location as Flower and Benedict, checks marked Union Bank. Also notes Boulder State University building decay and Erie coal miners strike with arrests and armed force proposal.
Weld County hosts a series of Centennial Bicentennial events from April involving kite contests to honor Benjamin Franklin. Activities include Island Grove Park village dedication, park tree planting, and committee meetings at Gilcrest, Briggsdale, and Noon. Also a history program on Old Cattle Trails and a box social for park funding.
The Colorado State Patrol reported four traffic deaths, lifting the year’s fatality count to 115. Victims include Kelly Glasspoole, 6, and James Patterson, 10, of Denver, Steven Paulsen, 17, of Parker, and Michael Skunberg, 25, of Englewood. The incidents occurred in Denver, Parker area, and Douglas County.

Young adults increasingly single by age 20 to 24, while male singles rise too, with the death rate at 6.8 per 1000 in 1975, the lowest in history.
