Why Rubber Bounces and Elasticity in Balls
The article explains rubber bounce due to elasticity as the rubber returns to shape after deformation. When touching ground, compression stores energy that elastic forces release to lift the ball. Some energy is lost as internal friction heating. even in a vacuum a ball cannot rise higher than its drop point. Ordinary putty is inelastic and does not bounce because it does not revert after deformation.
