A small pen of superior stock beats a larger pen of weak inheritance.

Noxious Weed Seed Destroyed in Silage

T E Woodward of the bureau of dairy industry reports from Beltsville that burying weed seeds in ensilage largely kills or greatly reduces germination. Of 26 weed varieties, 23 died in the silo and three showed reduced germination. The process may safely render Johnson grass seed harmless and provide a new use for good seed value without spreading weeds through manure.

Lyle Young Family Heads to California for New Home

M and Mrs Lyle Young and their children left Saturday afternoon to move to Los Angeles California, planning to drive their belongings in a truck and travel in a car. Young has worked as a CCC mechanic in Sigourney and Bedford and aims to join aviation plants or a California garage. A CCC friend on furlough accompanies them to help drive and may stay if employment is found.
