Three Way Radio System Installed In Taylor County Sheriff
The Taylor County sheriff's office installed a federally approved three way radio system last week. It enables three way contact car to car car to station and station to station, allowing communication anywhere in the county and indirectly across the state. Mer Lucie and Mr Littl, both with army radio experience, plus Littie as a Bedford ham, are involved in the setup.

Legion Auxiliary Met In December Meeting Notes
The American Legion Auxiliary met Monday evening December 6 at Helsn Janoon a with 12 members present. They planned a Legion night, proposed sending care boxes to veterans hospitals, and discussed Christmas boxes for local veterans families and for publishing. A membership drive was stressed with each member urged to recruit a new member. Post-meeting, Margaret Beamer and Helen Janson led a Christmas program and a grab bag. The January meeting is set for Monday January 17 with Margaret Beemer.

November Hunting Violations Reported By State Officers
Reports from state conservation officers show 494 persons prosecuted for game law violations in November with convictions secured. The total exceeds November 1947 by over 150 and 1946 by 274. Of the cases 472 were illegal hunting, 17 trapping, 2 fishing, 8 miscellaneous. Fines reached 18,466 dollars and 290 days in jail in justice courts.

Albert Lund Obituary and Funeral Details
Albert Lund died Tuesday November 30 at home. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 pm at Bantz Funeral Home Shenandoah with Rev. Mabbers assisting. The Bleckwood Brothers quartet sang Face to Face and In the Garden. Doyle Bleckwood sang I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone. Burial was in Gravity Cemetery. Lund, born October 13 1877 in Nodaway County Missouri, was the youngest son of John and Mary Lund. He married Core Writley in 1900 and had one daughter Goldie Lucille Lund Hoy of St Paul Minnesota. he married Gertrude Sawyer in 1905 and came to Shenandoah. A son Russell Lund lived in Los Angeles, two grandchildren were Mary Louise Allom and Billy Lund. He had many nieces and nephews. Lund was a barber in Shenandoah since July 1905, opened his own shop in 1918, then worked at Webster drug store basement and later Toby Carson’s barber shop. He later owned the Four Choice Barber Shop, sold in 1943 due to poor health. He had heart disease and died at home at 8:30 p.m. November 30. He was a member of the Woodman Lodge and Shenandoah Methodist Church. His father served in the Civil War and returned to Missouri before his death. Lund’s mother died in 1924.

Funeral services for Jesse Lovitt were held at Gravity Methodist Church with Rev W J Weber officiating. The obituary notes he was born 1865 in Terre Haute Illinois and died December 9 1948 near Gravity Iowa after a illness from a fractured hip and bronchial pneumonia. He was survived by two sons Glenn and Jay and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Christmas program will be held December 20 at 7:30 p m at the Christian church with attendance invited.
